On December 11, 2008, MYA
transporters picked up JT in Charleston and brought him there.
The young man picked up that day was not my son. He was a
troubled young man, on drugs, a thief, and a liar. I had come to
not recognize that young man in my home. And that night was the
first night I did not cry myself to sleep or could not sleep in
fear of hearing him sneak out of the house, I had placed him in
God's hands and just prayed that you would keep him safe since I
could not. I knew in my heart that he might not see not see his
next birthday if he continued doing what he was doing.
From the very first visit at MYA,
your staff made me feel welcomed, allowed me to ask questions,
asked me for my input in treating JT, and most importantly,
LISTENED to my fears , my hopes, and my prayers.
The young man I am so very excited
to pick up tomorrow and bring home is MY SON...the son I
remember with a twinkle in his eyes, a smile on his face, and
his beautiful laugh. He now looks me straight in the eye, and I
can't remember the last time he was able to do that.
Ms. Chestnut and Mr. Daoust hold a
very special place in my heart, and I am thanking them
individually tomorrow, but every single employee at MYA has had
a part in helping this boy so full of promise and potential (he
hates that word) lol. Who knows where he will go now and what he
will accomplish because of your help and intervention!
You all have been a part in
changing JT's life and I cannot possible think of words to
convey my depth of gratitude.
So THANK YOU is all I have.
Please know how very much I thank
each and every one of you!
I will never forget you all......
May God bless you,
Karen
